Do you consider Michelangelo's sculptures, his David, bulky? (Maybe his women, yes, but they are all actually men he simply put breats on because apparently he wasn't too fond of girls.) The heroic ideal will always be with us, muscular and symmetrical. There is a Roman statue in The Metropolitan Museum in New York City of Herakles that to me is the most beautiful image of a man ever made. They use it for their poster of the Greek and Roman Galleries, you can view it on line. Some of us bulky guys are quite nice men and perhaps even live up to the fantasy in real life, not by being cartoon characters but by being thoughtful, passionate men who proudly and openly love other men.
