It’s the end of the year and according to tragic news I recently found on various porn blogs in just a couple of days, it’s also the end of two porn performers’ life, one porn site closes its door, (at least) two porn couples break up and one car accident.
1. Gay Porn Star Dustin Michaels Chokes To Death In Police Custody
Gay Porn Blog reports this news: We’re sad to note that porn star Dustin Michaels (given name Andrew Grande) died in police custody this weekend while allegedly attempting to swallow a bag of weed. [warning] You can watch disturbing video of this event at Toleroad blog.
Police had responded to a domestic disturbance call at his home in Panama City, FL. While attempting to handcuff him, Michaels swallowed the baggie and began choking. The police tasered him before administering the Heimlich Maneuver. A camera crew from Tru TV happened to filming the incident for a COPS-style reality TV show.
Dustin Michaels worked with various amateur sites like ON THE HUNT, Naked Kombat and Bound Gods. He also starred in Raging Stallion’s new movie Southern Pride: Boys In Heat , Vegas Fuckfest 2009 and Snow Trip 9: Lake Tahoe.

2. RIP: Performer Todd Welch
I found another sad news on Gay Porn Times: We have more sad news to report this morning. Performer Todd Welch has died following a battle with “an aggressive and rare form of lymphoma,” said FabScout Entertainment’s Howard Andrew, who informed the adult industry of the news over the weekend. Mr. Welch filmed for several web studios and had shot roughly half a dozen DVDs since 2007: ENDLESS CRUSH for Falcon Studios, TOP DAWGS for FPG Entertainment, and several titles for Lucas Entertainment, including WELCOME TO PARADISE and FEET!, released earlier this year.

6. Jakub Stefano got a knee surgery
From Jakub Stefano’s blog: Today noon i had my knee surgery it went fine i got my meniscous issues fixed… when i woke up they showed me how they did it cuz i had this small camera in my knee so i see how they took out bad parts of meniscous and put some liquid there…
Bit worst new is that they discover i had also old injury with cross ligament it was teared too. So if i want to play basketball in future i will need get plastic surgery of this ligament…
For now im doing good my knee feels good and it don’t hurt so much so im quite happy it went all ok

Panama City’s local channels are in my viewing area – I’m in Destin, Fl.- and they have made no mention of his “adult movie background” which I found odd. If he had been a female then they would be showing clips and the headlines would read “porn actress chokes to death” or some such lurid title.
As for Eric Rhodes blog, I agree it is sad. I feel sorry for him but first of all you can’t go into therapy and not tell you doctor what the biggest issue of all your issues is – you are a pornstar. Second, and this is why he can’t be happy, Eric is obviously a narcisistic personality with a need for attention and a self destructive streak which is very complicated. Anyone who wants to have a realtionship with him will have to deal with periods of exteme neediness followed by times of elevated self importance. He is likely to tell the focus of his attention how much he needs them/loves them/can’t live without them for a few days and then wildly swing to the other extreme and follow it by acting like the king of all he sees for the next week. His life is further complicated by his porn lifestyle and admitted drug use.
I feel sorry for him but a therapist can’t help if you aren’t honest; even if they know the truth, they have to rely on the patient to openly discuss it.

Of course we always hear about the couples and porn stars who are messed up and don’t last. They may not represent the whole and only be a fraction, so it’s not a good statistic. Porn is showbiz, so just like movie and TV celebs, some are a mess and others aren’t.
