Pragues as a gayporn Capital? I don’t think that.
As I know Budapest, Hungary is the porn capital of Europe. There are many str8 porn and gay porn studios are there. I’m not sure, but probably 21Sextury is a Hungarian company – they’ve got plenty of str8 websites. My friend told me that the Hungarian guys and chicks are really cool. They are beautiful!

Despite all the fairy tales told by the so-called straight models seen in the documentary Making of Pleasure Hunt, I do not believe that these guys are real heteroxual men and have girlfriends.

No one knows shit about Prague including the author of this article.
1) Prague is not in Eastern Europe, nor is the Czech Republic. It is in Central Europe – look at a map! Most of Austria is east of the Czech Republic, and no one calls Austria Eastern Europe.
2) Prague did not transition to a “raw capitalism.” Taxes are very high in Czech Republic in order to provide social services like most of Western Europe. High taxes does not equal raw capitalism. I understand the transition was not easy, but it wasn’t one towards unharnessed capitalism with no regulation.
3) Prague is not poor The standard of living in the United States is higher yes, but the cost of living is much lower here, as is crime compared to major US cities. It’s no different than saying that guys in the United States do porn because their poor. While most do not come from wealthy backgrounds, it’s not a “do porn or die” choice, just as it isn’t in America. This is especially not true in Prague because of the rather generous welfare state.
4)The Czech Republic is a modern capitalist / socialist Democracy that stresses individual rights, but also there is little effect from organized religion, which also helps to explain porn’s success here.
5) The whole gay for pay thing is a bit tricky. I would agree that Belami has definitely hired gay for pay, but if your doing gay porn consistently for like 5 years and still consider yourself straight, that one is hard to buy. It is definitely not true that ALL of the Belami models are Gay for Pay.
And if the first poster doesn’t think Prague is a gay porn capital then he is crazy. It’s like saying West Hollywood isn’t gay. I have randomly seen at least 4 belami actors and have only been here 5 months – Paul Valery at a bowling alley, Peters Twins at the mall, and Evan Cobb at a gay club.
Sorry for the rant, but Prague is a hot topic, and most people have no clue what they are talking about.

As I know BelAmi is a Slovakian company (they’ve got plenty of Slovakian, Czech and Hungarian str8/bi/gay models), I know William Higgins only from the Czech Republic (they’ve got Czech and Slovakian models too).
I don’t know other studios or directors from the Czech Republic. So, I don’t think that Czech Republic is the main gay porn country in Europe…

I think production costs are lower in Prague, not just porn but major studios have used Czeck Republic, Romania, Hungary, and Austria as sets of major motion pictures. As for the gay for pay, this maybe true however there gay for pay actors here in US. Belami has admited that they have not just used actors from Progue but from eastern European countries. Mr. Duroy has admited that models often only inncentive is the money and as commented about porn and poverty.
I have enjoyed the quality and the beauty men from central and eastern Europe. I also believe amazing men live all over the world from Brazil to Russia. I only thing i dont like about belami is the bad sex is not the best. Having said that, it was a sad story, and Higgins was well written about.

I’ve seen a couple of documentaries on the gay porn industry in Central/Eastern Europe. Both were really depressing, mostly heavily linking it with human trafficking and prostitution. I’d be interested to see what a local’s take on it is.

I have to agree with Orestes. I lived in Budapest for the last three years and know this area pretty well. Many of the guys I have met at the gym are in porno and they have been doing it for years! They tell me they feel that they can’t be as “out” as you can in Western Europe or the USA and so they say they are straight but to me admit no, they are gay. Re: Iaag, actually politically and historically Czechoslovakia (now the Czech republic) was considered eastern Europe. The German part of the Austro-Hunagrian Empire was western, the Hungarian part eastern. Yes, part of it is no further east than Germany but Eastern Europe was always considered anything east of Germany, especially after the war when it was under Soviet domiantion. (In the USA they call Ohio the midwest and on a map it appears to be in the east, not the middle of anywhere) This idea of “Europe” or the EU is basically new and if you look at the problems it may not last. Western and Eastern Europe have always had different histories and they developed quite separately.
