Has anyone else become obsessed with the whole Black Spark thing? I was hooked from the beginning, and admit that I did donate more money than I probably should have. I got wrapped up in the idea of someone creating something visually stimulating that I could get off to but still make me think about even after it was over (which is not the case with most porn.)

I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed if it is really true that he is not some hipster filmmaking student making homemade “art” erotica with his hot group of friends, and is instead a pornstar that has edged his way into receiving “donations” in the guise that his work was “real art” and not porn. Michael Lucas is a strong personality, and it seems like a lot of people don’t like him. I like his movies, really like a lot of them.
However, I’m of two minds about this: Is it better to be an advocate of safe sex, while at the same time using performers like Lars Svenson, Marco Cruise and Peto Coast (who’s featured on Lucas’ home page right now) who’ve done very notorious BB work) and be thought a hypocrite, or to say nothing?

I agree with what you are saying leev, and if I came across hypocritical it was not my intention. I like his work, I guess I would have preferred to know from the get go who he was (not his identity but a former porn star trying to start his own brand) and where he was going with his little “project” instead of blindly donating money without really knowing what was going on. He has already taken down all of his videos and says he is going to start a website – so if it is going to be a paysite I would have just preferred to wait so I could decided then if I wanted to join. That is all I really meant to say, that I feel like I got wrapped up in what might have been too good to be true, and the reality check was just sudden for me. And if he really did do porn before (as everyone kinda assumes at this point) then he should stop trying to hide and just embrace it (b/c unmasked he is really hot!)

@mike thanks for explaining better,i guess part of the fashination with him was the amatorial aspect of something pornographic that has a different quality to it,accessible to everybody.But sometimes hiding behind a pseudonym and not allowing your audience to know everything from the start helps create the fantasy itself,allows the audience to make whatever they want about you/your project without necessarely associate your face to your work,just like musicians do or writers.It’s not your case but i guess there are many out there who probably wouldn’t have given him a chance just because they knew he did porn before.I can’t judge the payment factor,you both have your own reasons and he probably has bills to pay too.
