Let’s look at management – the heads of studios are in a large number of cases gay. Take for instance Bel Ami, Chaos Men, Jet Set, ND (the studio is headed by a gay man), C1R, Lucas, RSS, Randy Blue, JC, Kristen Bjorn…not to mention the increasing group of bareback studios. In fact studios like SC and CF are, from the management sexual orientation pov – in minority. So no straight power here!

Economically gay porn doesn’t pay much these days. Diesel wrote on his twitter there are guys willing to bottom for a few hundred dollars and no one is paying over $1k unless you sign a exclusivity contract which doesn’t guarantee you more work. No one can make a living doing gay porn alone. Some do have real jobs and others use it to boost their escort profiles and rates and some do it to supplement other vices (see Devin Draz). Chi Chi was asked about a performer who claimed he made $40k in a short time doing porn. Her blunt reply “HE’S LYING.”
Honestly I don’t know why Next Door or Jake Cruise shoots these scenes anyways. They both claim that they make it for gay guys that watch straight porn, but straight porn and the popularity POV (point of view shots) show more of the guys body now then either one of these sites.
Also I think asenath or someone else wrote and I 1000% agree with this, looking at some of these videos on Next Door and Jake Cruise it becomes painfully obvious why only a small handful could ever work regularly in straight porn. They either don’t have the dick for it (Marcus Mojo), a few have wood issues (Leo Giamani’s lone straight scene), or some are just lousy at having straight (hetreo) sex (too many to name).
The starting pay for a mope in straight porn is $50 and don’t forget the $150 AIM test you have to bring and retest every month in order to work.
Right now, I can’t see why any straight man would want to work in the gay porn industry the low pay, the fact that you can’t cover up what you do anymore, and finding your porn name and legal name together on the highly publicized porn wikileaks site (which has a very large database of current gay porn stars real names), I don’t see what the gain would be even in the short term of things now and the long term ramifications of doing porn to me at least and to someone who identifies as straight aren’t really worth the trouble. I mean once your time in porn is over with and you go back into a real life/world you are going to find very few people that will believe that you are straight. From a personal standpoint, I wouldn’t want my future children to find photos or videos of me on the internet having sex with anyone. Nor would I ever put my family in the uncomfortable position to have to answer questions or be subject to ridicule. Former porn star Penny Flame/Jenny Ketchum wrote a very good piece about life after porn and the realities of having a porn career on The Huffington Post, I’ll link it here but I think the points are very universal whether you are working on the gay or straight side of the industry.

Most of those organizations are defunct. They don’t have a lot of cash to throw around for testimonials… those ‘rehabilitated’ would already serve that purpose; they wouldn’t hire anyone of those guys. And besides, I doubt a spokesperson for those facilities, would be anyone STILL involved with the porn industry. Most of those guys end up in different areas behind the camera, if not in front of it with women.

@Brad B… we live in a capitalist culture, consumers can make any choice in what they want. So if you desire not to purchase NDS because of this reason, its your right to.
However, its not like you are going to find a ‘gay utopia’ where people are classically defined black and white sexually. We all make our path in life, and for some it isn’t as clear cut as others, it is a matter of trial and error; experience makes a person wiser and more aware of who they are. Who isn’t to say in 5 years, any of these G4P’yers aren’t enjoying a nice retirement with their WeHo sugar daddies. Or maybe they desire some type of suburban lifestyle with a wife and kids… human relationships are complicated and confusing at times, they are in flux and constantly evolving. Getting angry about them and spewing hatred isn’t a productive way of addressing feelings of frustration.

Estelle, gay porn pays more than straight porn, that’s the #1 reason why they’re doing it. It may be low pay, but it’s still more than straight and I would venture to say we’d be seeing the majority of G4P guys in ONLY Straight porn if it DID pay more. I’m sure we wouldn’t have as many G4P guys if it weren’t for that. As far as them being found out and having family members/friends see their work, that’s the kind of condition they know about and accept right from the start. They really don’t have much reason to complain or feel embarassed by it considering they knew the ramifications going in. Also, I totally agree with what MMDD said about the industry in general. There have always been straight or bi guys in gay porn, long before G4P became popular. The only difference is back then, it wasn’t talked about as much and it wasn’t as in-your-face as it is now. If you want “real” gay men in gay porn, that’s fine. But in reality, you’re probably going to be looking a long time.

What has ALWAYS annoyed me about gay porn actors who call themselves “gay-for-pay” is their denial, and the domino effect their denial can have on those young AND old questioning their orientation.
I have said it in numerous blog entries of how the most common introduction that a gay males has to seeing a gay man comfortable with his sexuality is porn. So the bad message that this sends out to those in some degree of “orientation limbo” is one of the reasons I retired. The producers and directors who hire these guys should make that their concern since many were in that limbo themselves at one point, but out of greed they don’t.
No truly straight man who is a member of FREE SOCIETY for any amount of money is going to have sex with another man as a top or as a bottom. So the fact that his girlfriend is OK with his being in gay porn says quite a bit about her…

Sorry to say but G4P is here to stay folks. While we can all be idealistic (like our young friend Kyle here) and want our gay porn with genuine gay actors, the pool is just too small for that to be possible. A lot of amateur sites like Randy Blue and Sean Cody would have gone bankrupt ages ago if they hire gay actors exclusively. You can choose to remain pressed and bitter over it or you can remind yourself that porn is just pure fantasy for you to get off on. Save yourself the aggravation and choose the latter.
