Interview with JD Phoenix, The Hookies Awards Nominee

I think JD Phoenix has such an infectious smile and one of the cutest bubble butts in gay porn right now. I got a chance to meet this rising porn star in person last month in San Francisco on the set of NAKEDSWORD.COM. And he finished the shooting in Mexico with CockyBoys earlier this month.

He’s nominated for The Hookies 2013 International Escort Awards in two categories – Best Newcomers and Best Dancer. So let’s get to know him.

Describe what you do as an escort, What qualities set you apart from the other nominees?

From the beginning, when I started over a year and a half ago my view of escorting was very different to what I think about it now. I’m a very relaxing, outgoing guy looking to just enjoy quality time with another man. I’m very picky these days with how I choose who I see. I started gogo-ing in Las Vegas, I’ve learned from the best and have been traveling over the country dancing at bars because its something I’ve became good at and people always love seeing a big ass shaking on a bar. These two nominations came at a shock as on Facebook and Twitter I was hoping to be vote for best ass and best boyfriend fantasy. So these two nominations came to a shock for me so if I win I win, if I don’t its an honor.

What was the weirdest experience you’ve had as an escort?

I haven’t had any weird experiences while escorting but boy we sure get very interesting clients emailing us very interesting things that I wouldn’t consider myself in doing.

What do you like the most being an escort?

Two things the money and the connection I get with getting to know an absolute stranger.

As a nominee for Best Dancer, do you have a signature dance move?

How do you prepare for The Hookies Awards and Black Party Expo?

Actually I’m not planning or haven’t gotten my tickets to go. It makes me sad and I would love to go but instead I’ll be home in Las Vegas getting ready for my big move back to my home state of NY but moving to the big apple this time. I’m originally from Albany, NY (the capital of NY) my entire family from Albany my sister mother and father are coming on the 28th of this month and will be here in Vegas til April 3 and that’s when I’ll be invading the big city!

Top or bottom or Vers? Which role do you have more fun doing?

I’m happy to say I’m a big ole power bottom. Don’t get it twisted I don’t just like laying there and taking it. I like to push back these days! I’ve been even leading for a more versatile roll.

How did you come up with your porn name “JD Phoenix”

JD stands for a part of my birth given name and also one of my favorite whiskey. Phoenix I came up with is when I use to be watching porn and I came across this sexy handsome man Dean Phoenix. Not much a crazy egotistical porn star like we have these days. Like drag the daughters in drag acquire their “mothers” last name. In my case I stole his last name and I think I could do that amazing looking man justice or I hope I do!

Could you tell us about your recent gay porn shoots?

Well you guys covered the amazing and crazy but amazing set for naked sword! I’ve been working for cocky boys lately. Me and three other models went to Mexico! This is something I can never forget especially doing my first dp scene! But being in Mexico for the first time. It’s funny where this porn industry can get you. It’s like having a rich boyfriend that doesn’t work and only loves to travel and fuck.

How was your experience working with Mr. Pam on the set of Naked Sword’s political parody The Cover Up?

Mr. Pam is my adopted mother as of when we meet to do the first movie I’ve ever done Hooker Stories 2. This is kind of a joke but she’s know as the gay porn mama and she truly is! Anytime I need to talk with about what might be going on, secrets, up and coming work and things I might need advise on with porn and personal life. She is truly an amazing person.

What do u mean prepare? I’ve been bottoming since getting into porn and a dp scene was what I’ve been waiting to do since I started!

Do you have any funny or memorable experiences from the porn set?

This story is more of a disappointing but ironic experience. When I was on my first duo porn set with SeanCody, my duo partner who was “straight” got creeped out because I escorted but then we started to talk about barebacking and he said he would never do it and now he’s one of the biggest barebacking stars on the site. Ironic what people do for money. Also that was the reason why I stopped working for them. I want to support the gay community and always use protection especially on film.

1. I’ve been living on my own since I was 17.
2. I love the color orange
3. I watch reruns of the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Reminds me when I was very little. Best part of my life! Didn’t have much but I didn’t need much!

What’s your plan? What’s next for JD Phoenix?

I’m actually looking to go to the modeling route. Hence I’m very young and when I was in NYC for a week and a half before I went to Mexico. Many people I met were very interested in shooting me and asked if I have ever thought of modeling. I know that my porn career has been a some what inconvenience but if its meant to be it will work!
