James Castle is the gay porn star who stars in multiple bareback sex scenes from Lucas Entertainment and Kristen Bjorn. He’s filming sex scenes with Lucas Entertainment in Barcelona at the moment.
He is recently featured in the the gay men’s health charity GMFA’s Living With HIV video.
GMFA is continuing its strong run of work tackling HIV stigma (‘HIV-Positive Guys Reading Mean Messages’ / HIV Stripped Bare) with a new video which shows gay men who don’t and won’t allow stigma to affect their lives. Despite their status they are living their lives to the fullest.
Check out James Castle in the Living With HIV video below.
Hobbies: climbing, travelling, horse riding, space and astronomy
Astronomy? I had no idea! That’s cool.
Why I took part in the video: Compared to other positive guys I think I’ve had a pretty easy ride. Don’t get me wrong, the diagnosis and everything that was going around that time was far, far from plain sailing but through it all I developed an outlook on life that I’m now working towards sharing with the world. Stigma only exists if it is exists inside of yourself. Get happy, get comfortable and stop sticking on the ignorance of a population who probably (and hopefully) won’t ever HIV stumble into their path. Those who understand the subject will stand with you. Those who don’t won’t. The only thing separating the two is a difference in education.
Eleven gay men living with HIV stood in front of our camera and declared to the world their status and discussed how it has not held them back – whether that is through the career they wanted, the sports they play, the people they love or their sex life. These men wanted to declare to the world that they are living with HIV and they aren’t ashamed.

Yyyy, so he’s positive and doing BB sex on camera? I know PrEP and stuff, but for God sake, please… Almost 100% sure he got it from BB sex and now, although video hit very important topic, he’s continuing behaviour which got him where he is and giving others false feel of no threat.
Don’t get me wrong, I wish everyone best and stay healthy, but what he shows in porn by doing BB sex (which got him this), is “you might JUST get HIV, but it’ll be fine”.
BTW, didn’t know LE allows positive guys do scenes with other performers. Call me very small minded, but I wouldn’t agree in life to do scene with someone positive ( and he’s top in some of them). I’m from central Europe and work in field related to medicine, so I know that’s real stuff when it comes to risk ( and not only HIV but any kind of STD).

What needs to be pointed out is that bareback sex isn’t safe even made between positives. All people involved should fill in the guidelines laid down in the 2008 Swiss Statement.
That said, if you make a living out of porn acting and escorting, it’s just a matter of time. To plan on getting the bug and immediately start HAART therapy may be safer than to take PrEP every other day or on a as-needed basis.

It’s interesting anyone not HIV positive would want to do BB scenes with positive guys. Or are these people positive too?
I agree these people shouldnt get stigma affect their lives but at the same time, being positive is not something you should be proud of. Shouting out loud “I’m HIV positive” and “I am a porn star” doesn’t get rid of stigma but just invite more people to attack.

I applaud that he owns it. The whole don’t ask, don’t tell think of BB performers is not cute.

BBQ porn shouldn’t exist IMO, people’s health is far more important than seeing sex without a condom.

Boys,
campaigns such as the one I decided to take part in (see above!) are aimed at chaps such as yourselves.
Of course we aren’t all experts in HIV and what it actually means in this day and age. Why would you be if it doesnt effect you? But please, for your own sake, for your communities sake, for positive guys sake and for the sake of the future, watch these videos. Read the articles. Ask questions. Be curious rather than afraid.
These things aren’t caught from people who know they have them. People who know they have an illness manage their illness. They are caught from those who don’t know they have them! In fact, studies show that there is no risk of contracting HIV from a medicated HIV+ person with an undetectable viral load.
You are commenting on an educational video whilst coming across as though you have no knowledge on the subject at all. Is it not better to click on a link or two to validate your belief before sharing that belief on a public forum? It sounds like you have all completely ignored all facts given on the same video you are inaccurately commenting on?
“Don’t ask, don’t tell”?? How was this what someone has heard when I specifically stated the absolute opposite?
How can a “positive guy” like me do “bareback porn”? Im sure i covered that part but in case you missed it –
I am ‘undetectable’. Undetectable means there is no measurable amount of HIV in my body. This is due to medication which aims to bring my viral load (amount of HIV found in blood) to an undetectable level. I cannot transmit the virus to another person because there is no measurable amount of HIV in my body.
Trust me when I say this, boys- if positive men stopped going infront of the camera you would have an extremely limited choice of pornography to choose from.

It has been a fact since the beginning that positive pornstars are way more than you might think bareback or not. If you are doing porn your are at risk safe or not.

“… this is my last year, I have worked with some fantastic studios” Is he retiring from porn?

“everything that was going around that time was far, far from plain sailing…”
and yet we’ve known for 30+ years how to avoid that. I’m not a holier-than-thou type and I like to watch Castle; I think he’s handsome, and he’s an enthusiastic performer. By his own admission, even today a diagnosis of HIV is far from smooth sailing; why risk it?
