I think Models, Studios and Consumers should be able to see honest feedback, not censored watered down versions. I do not normally post here, but once you start censoring posts to not offend models then it’s a slippery slope. I would suggest that you begin warning people if their posts get out of hand and then take more aggressive actions. but censoring the entire board is too much I believe. I do not usually post on boards that practice censorship.
I don’t get it.
Zoltan was openning up about his porn past in Hungary, I am not sure who Declan is, but he seems to have had sort of a ‘following’.
This is your site, do what you want, but I don’t understand this issue.
The owner of ANY Blog has the right to moderate comments if he or she so chooses. Moderating comments is done by major websites all the time, if they do not they are inundated with trolls and spam.
This is not free discussion instead all honest and perceptive comments are buried under an avalanche of hate speech.
Another observation I have made many of the most spiteful and controversial comments are made by just a handful of posters who troll from site to site.
By their words ye shall judge them and some betray extremely homophobic language!
You would think anyone visiting Queer Me Now or any blog that covers Gay porn would be a self accepting Queer! You would think they would ENJOY Gay Porn! You would think they would be respectful of the young men who do porn for OUR Self-gratification!
Sadly that is not the case.
Let the trolls go play on Queerty 😉
P.S.
I do LOVE the photo you used for this post.
I know a few trolls I would LOVE to see in such a position! ;-p
It was rather obvious that someone was posting under different names ,these congratulations and attacks -always directed towards the same persons and groups-rang the bell for me a few weeks ago.
It was getting annoying for sure but one has to wonder what kind of saddo would make up such things..agreeing with yourself on a porn blog under multiple identities…Geez!!!
Thanks QMN for clearing up the air.
There is a huge distance between censorship and moderation.
This is HIS blog, and he has a right to run it whatever way HE see’s fit.
If people will not be civil and on topic, then it’s up to the blog owner to not approve of such comments in the first place. Geez, have some respect for the time and work that goes into this blog and stop behaving like children.
There is nothing unfair about that.
If you’re not going to abide by the rules, then don’t post here. Go somewhere else or start your own blog. No one is stopping you.
Most blogs have a commenting policy, it helps maintain order and reduce problems.
I hate it when people spout the “they are doing it for us” Crap! they are doing it for themselves. If they don’t want to do it then someone else will and it’s not for the GAY men it’s so they can make large amounts of money in a relatively short period of time. I have not attacked any one on here so I know I am not contributing to the problem.
That said I rechecked the thread about Bobby Clark and in that instance yes active moderation is necessary.
Uh, since it’s a private blog he has a RIGHT to allow whatever comments he wishes.
It’s not unfair that’s he is moderating some of the downright rude and cruel posts that have been made over time. Like Jason said, don’t post here or get your own blog where you can allow insults to your heart’s content.
I kinda like the “uncensor” thing. That’s the reason why I come to QMN and Way Big more than QC that I used to visit. Because it’s much more fun and gossip-y for me to see all kind of comments. Unedited and uncensored. I mean, without this, who gonna agree with much how much of shit G4P actors are. And how many of them are such dickheads.
Nice DeWayne and Jason…I don’t think that it’s censorship…and I hope that QMN will help to spurn on civil discussion of issues in gay porn and porn in general but of late, the personal attacks and especially the revelation of personal information about the performers (albeit stuff from other websites and through personal contact) just got OUT OF HAND!
And it is a personal blog…so he is entitled to do what he feels! I don’t think it’s unfair…
“the photo, got the guy by the balls, S/M, ironic?”
If you mean that it’s QMN in the chains and the porn industry that has it by the balls, then yes.
Because make no mistake. This change is made because the porn sites are bitching. It’s happening at all blog sites. The porn industry hates to read criticism about itself.
Reading some of the comments that the QWM made, the reason he is doing this is because of the number of sockpuppets who are replying to their own posts using a different name.
Norbara the only “personal” information I have seen come out on these blogs was the catfight between Leo G. and QueerClick and frankly Leo brought a lot of that on himself. From what a few people I communicate with in the industry, a lot of the comments that followed were a long time coming if you know what I mean.
Leo wrote the same thing almost verbatim on another forum (non porn) about threatening to sue and the comments were far more vicious then anything I have read on the porn blogs. However, the comments didn’t come from porn fans they came from people that knew Leo in his previous life. All I can say about it is WOW…..JUST WOW!
Censorship is denying someone the right to speak out. Controling posts simply ensures the moderation of QueerMeNow … it doesn’t deny anyone the right to find another venue, or to create their own forum, to have their say. Use of the word censorship is misleading.
Besides, banning the odd ignorant post will make reading what others have to say less annoying, 🙂

I think that’s an unfair thing to do. Its called censorship. May as well just close the entire blog if you’re gonna do that.
Allicide says
I agree with this choice. I just hope that it doesn’t mean that we can no longer express our real opinions about an update.

A wise decison.

AMEN!

i agree with moderation as some people put up some really dumb thing that have nothing to do with the top or start their hate speeches.
ugh says
This was inevitable. But atleast posters will be better behaved and stop hijacking threads with personal attacks.
James says
Well done, its your blog you can do with it what you want,

Why? I have always been good and respectful.

Mike I disagree I read plenty of reasoned CRITICAL comments on Gay Porn Times and Unzipped, this blog, mine and certainly the Sword!
Look at the whole argument about Gay4Pay that most of the pornsumers seem to hate yet the industry embraces!
No one has censored THAT discussion.
As for criticism of porn sites and DVD’s it happens all the time, I allow a healthy difference of opinion and I am sure QueerMeNow does a swell.
What we witnessed with Bobby Clark was just plain mean and trollish.
I have a rule on mine no personal attacks unless a politician is the target!
They deserve the brickbats!
